The Layout

The club has 2 rooms with a staff ratio of 1:8, which is adhered to at all times.

What activities are there?

The views of the children are sought in relation to activities they would like to do or have enjoyed doing in the past.

The club has a range of books and comics, fictional and non-fictional – and a range of board/card games are also provided. We seek to ensure that all these reflect the images from all cultures, religions and races.

There is strong emphasis on craft-based activities such as painting, drawing, modelling and collage. These crafts will incorporate ‘theme weeks’, particularly in the Holiday Club, and involve different creative activities, which the children may not have the chance to do at home or at school. Examples include face painting, paper making and cooking.

  • Where appropriate we may invite people with additional qualifications to teach, for example dance and music. The children are encouraged to be involved, but ultimately the decision to do so remains with them.
  • We recognise the importance of role-play. To promote this kind of play we provide a range of materials and equipment to support this activity.
  • We provide a number of outings during the holidays, which supplement the programme of activities. These include such places as museums, theme parks, swimming pools and cinema.

There is a designated quiet area if children wish to complete any homework set by school. Along with the creative and quieter activities the children are also able to take part in more physical activities. These range from football and team games to races and treasure hunts.

Meals

For the Out of School Club, morning breakfast will be provided and a healthy home-cooked tea in the afternoon session. Sample menus can be found on our Meals page.

In the Holiday Club a hot balanced lunch will be provided, following a similar menu to the one in nursery.

We are able to accommodate special dietary needs.

Hours

  • Out of School: 7.00am – 9am and 3.30pm – 6pm
  • Holiday Club: 7.00am – 6pm

Fees

Please see the Fees page for details.

Fees include food, all activities on the premises and some outings.

Flexible hours are negotiable and where necessary certain transportation routes will incur an extra charge for a taxi and staff.

Collection times: as other organisations use the church hall during the evening – and also for insurance coverage – please ensure that your child is collected promptly. Late collections will incur an additional charge to cover the additional costs.

Non attendance

If a place has been booked it must be paid for unless the club is notified at least fourteen days in advance in writing.

Transportation

The children are part of a Walking bus to and from the out of school club to Steeton school. During term time, staff will deliver the children to the school in the morning, then wait at the school gates in the afternoon to collect them.

Transport is also available to and from Silsden and Eastburn schools.
